Auf der Couch haben sich die Dallas Mavericks endgültig für die Playffs in der NBA qualifiziert. Unterdessen stellten die Atlanta Hawks beim Comeback von Dennis Schröder nach einer leichten Zehenverletzung mit dem 58. Saisonerfolg (96:69 gegen die Phoenix Suns) einen neuen Klubrekord auf und brachten zugleich den ersten Platz in der Eastern Conference unter Dach und Fach. Dallas profitierte von der 88:113-Niederlage der Oklahoma City Thunder gegen Vorjahresmeister San Antonio Spurs.
